Drieberg College, Chavakachcheri, is one of the oldest schools in the Jaffna District and it is the first school in Thenmaradchy. It is situated in the heart of Chavakachcheritown and was founded in 1875 by American Missionaries. Drieberg College was started in 1875 with the help of James Steward Drieberg, a philanthropist and a Judge of the Magistrate Court of Thenmaradchy during the British colonial period.
Since 2016, DOSTA UK formed a Local Welfare Association (LWA) with the local merit, old college students and with college master. Local Welfare Association assess the college needs and provide resources via DOSTA UK. Other associations and the individuals can utilise the Local Welfare Association to support the College. It will prevent repetitive support request by the college for the same project and it is easy to administrate the support the College. In addition it will easy to contact by the e-mail to the LWA.
